2008 Dana Cup Trip |
|
The East York Dragans, Boys Under 13 competitive team will continue their journey and, literally expand their horizons, by travelling to Hjorring, Denmark to participate in the most international youth tournament in the world. The Dana Cup hosted 896 teams representing 46 Nations from every Continent in 2007 and, in 2008 will host The Dragans. Named after and in honour of one of the Club's Founding Members, current President Dragan Zagar, the team participated in the Warriors Classic in Dayton, Ohio early in the 2006 Season and, played 3 friendly games against older opposition whilst supporting our Under 18 Boys in their quest for Gold at the Club National Championships in Montreal,Quebec last Fall, 2006. This Summer the team participated in the largest youth tournament in the Western Hemisphere, The USA Cup in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with its in excess of 1,000 teams from around the world and lost in the Quarter-Finals against a strong team from Mexico. This perhaps was a payback as The Dragans had beaten another Club team from Mexico in the Toronto Cup International Youth Tournament 10 days earlier. The team plays in the Central Soccer League, the highest level league available at this age. Travelling and promoting not only The East York Soccer Club but, Ontario and Canada also, entails great responsibilities for these young players. As such, to ease the burden and assist in this huge financial venture any contribution received will be greatly appreciated and recognition will be rendered accordingly. Financial support and contributions will be gladly received at The Club office. To receive further information please contact Dragan Zagar, President (Club: 416-696-9812) or Coach, Bert Lobo (cell: 416-578-4909). Both individual and corporate aid is truly welcomed. The East York Dragans extend their appreciation in advance for your kind and generous support. ![]() |
