Frequently Asked Questions
Below find the answers to the most frequently asked questions about the East York Soccer Club and participation in its programmes.

Who runs the East York Soccer Club?
The East York Soccer Club is run by an elected Executive. With the exception of the Office administration staff, all members are volunteers. These members are elected at the Annual General Meeting in November.

Where is the club house?
The club office is located at 478 Cosburn Avenue, between Greenwood and Coxwell Avenues. The club office will be staffed from Monday through Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. throughout the season (May to September). We operate reduced hours in April and October. These hours our noted on our contact us page.

How do I determine what games are rained out?
Rain policy is established by the City of Toronto, Parks and Recreation in consultation with the East York Soccer Club. If in doubt, you should always show up at your designated field and the referee will determine if the game will be played.

How many nights does soccer involve?
The Under 5 and Under 6 age groups will play one game a week. All other groups will play one game a week and are expected to attend practice once a week, subject to field availability. The game nights are set by the schedule. The practice nights are set by the coaches.

What equipment does my child need to play?
Uniforms are provided. These include jerseys, shorts and socks. Players are expected to wear the uniform as issued to all games. Each player must have shinpads - these are mandatory. If your child is not wearing shinpads, he/she will not be allowed on the field. While soccer shoes are not mandatory, they are highly recommended for safety reasons, even for the youngest age groups, since the cleats are designed to grip sometimes slippery grass.

Where and when do we play?
All games are played in and around East York. Each schedule has the name of the field(s) where the games will take place. A map  for all field locations and a complete season schedule is published in the players handbook.

When does the season begin?
The season begins the last week of May. You should be receiving a phone call from your child's coach about the second week of May, if not before. Schedules are published in the players handbook which is given to every player at the beginning of the season. Your coach will notify you of any changes or corrections to the schedules.

How long does the season last?
The season finishes the end of August, depending upon the schedule for each age group. Tournament Cup rounds and trophy days will be held in early September. The coach will provide you with your Cup schedule.
